DOTr deploys new PNR trains, offers free rides for 10 days

The Department of Transportation has deployed two new trains for the Philippine National Railways (PNR).
The new 8100 series Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) trains consist of eight rail cars with four-car formation per set, which can carry up to 1,000 passengers per trip. As of today, the PNR has four new 8100 series trains and is expected to scale up to nine sets within the first half of 2020. With the acquisition of new trains, PNR’s goal is to reach a daily capacity of 92,000 passengers and reduce the time between trains to around 15 to 20 minutes over the current one and a half hours.
Trump isn’t pleased a South Korean film won best-picture Oscar

President Donald Trump bemoaned this year’s Academy Award winner for best picture, “Parasite,” on Thursday because it’s a South Korean film.
Parasite was the first foreign language movie to win best picture at the Academy Awards. It also won awards for directing and original screenplay.
Trump, however, wasn’t impressed. He seemed more interested in American films that had been made more than 70 years ago.
DepEd official proposes use of Sablay instead of toga in elementary, high school graduation

An official from the Department of Education proposed the use of “sablay” instead of toga during graduation rites in the elementary and high school levels.
In a Facebook post, DepEd Undersecretary Alain Pascua confirmed reports circulating online that there is a proposal to change the graduation toga, which usually consists of a white robe and cap ensemble, in the basic education level. Yet, he said he did not have any idea how his proposal leaked online.

Sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality nitong Miyerkules, idinetalye ni Allison Chiong, Immigration Officer 1, ang operasyon ng naturang modus at pinangalanan ang mga opisyal na sangkot umano sa katiwalian, kabilang sina Traffic Control Enforcement Unit officers Bien Guevarra, Glenn Comia, at Den Binsol.
