PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is finally here!

After months of secrecy, Sony finally unveiled the design of its next-generation PlayStation 5 console. In fact, two of them unveiled, the standard edition and digital edition with no optical drive.

PlayStation 5 design
PlayStation 5 has a sleek, vertical style dominated by white panels on either side and a curved black interior. The middle section has what looks like a regular USB-A and a USB-C port on the front along with a blue LED light and vents along the top curve. For now, the back of the console remains a mystery.
The PS5 is positioned inside a vertical frame, something Sony has always had for its consoles, beginning with the PS2. It’s not yet known whether this stand is part of the design or a separate accessory.

You can distinguished the two consoles by the absence of a 4 K UHD Blu-ray on the Digital Version. This model is thinner and has a more symmetrical design, while the standard edition is bulkier and somewhat more awkwardly proportioned.
The overall design aesthetics is exactly the kind of extravagance that could be expected from the first iteration of any new PlayStation generation. It perfectly matches the DualSense controller design, which already foreshadows the white and black aesthetics back in April. Compared to Microsoft’s robust and lightweight Xbox Series X style, PlayStation 5 looks like something out of science fiction.
PlayStation 5 Accessories

Sony also introduced a number of accessories for the new consoles. We have already been familiar with the DualSense controller mentioned above, which will feature haptic feedback and built-in microphone.
There will also be a charging station for the simultaneous charging of two DualSense controllers, an HD camera for potential motion tracking, a new Pulse 3D wireless headset, and finally a Media Remote for the use of the console as a Blu-ray player and a streaming device.
Sony also presented a ton of new games, including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Resident Evil Village, NBA 2K21, Deathloop, Hitman III, and more. There’s also an update for GTA V, which provide additional content, technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance improvements when released on the PS5 in the second half of 2021.
Apart from all that, we still don’t know the pricing and the exact date of launch. Expect to find out all this as we get closer to the launch at the end of 2020.
