NBI will summon Koko Pimentel for quarantine breach

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will summon Senator Koko Pimentel for the latter’s breach of quarantine protocol.

Pimentel, who was on self-quarantine and who had gotten tested for coronavirus, went to the Makati Medical Center (MMC) to accompany his wife who was supposed to give birth to their child. On the day of his hospital visit, the result of his test came back to him positive.

The MMC has slammed Pimentel’s actions as “reckless and irresponsible.” A former law dean has offered his help to sue Pimentel.

Pimentel’s wife gives birth after husband enmeshed in COVID-19 controversy

Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and his wife Kathryna welcomed their first daughter on Sunday, about a week after the senator tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Maria Kathryn Helena, fondly called “Leyna,” was born on March 29, a source told ABS-CBN News.

Mrs. Pimentel was supposed to give birth on March 25 at the Makati Medical Center (MMC), but her Cesarean operation had to be moved after her husband was told that he was COVID-19 positive.

Doctors required Mrs. Pimentel to undergo COVID testing before allowing her to give birth to their daughter.

Young doctor among victims of medical evacuation aircraft fire at NAIA

A young doctor helping in the fight against the novel coronavirus was among eight people who died after a plane on a medical evacuation flight caught fire on Sunday while taking off at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The 33-year-old Dr. Cenover Nicandro “Nicko” Bautista was one of the frontliners at the Mandaluyong City Medical Center.

The Agusta WW24 aircraft carrying the group caught fire Sunday, just before 8 p.m. An American national, a Canadian national and six Filipinos including Bautista perished in the flight. The Filipinos also included a flight medic, a nurse, and three flight crew.
